It's been a busy 3rd and 4th Quarter here at MMP. December is shaping up to be a blockbuster holiday season for parties for us. I wanted to take a quick minute to blog this wedding, its been so long since I posted I wanted to get something new up. I have a lot more footage to post and parties to blog so stay tuned.
This one was a great wedding from back in May at the Grand Del Mar. Wedding designer Thomas Bui made the room look beautiful. The bride and groom were super cool and just wanted to have some fun. To make sure that the Greek culture and traditions weren't forgotten they had a band share time with me (The DJ) I don't remember the bands name (Sorry guys!) but they were good and they play a weekly gig at one of the Greek restaurants here in town. I only took a couple of short clips of the DJ portion of the night but these guys were rockin! The Greek music was big hit at first and not as much later as you can see in the video but it was nice to have it integrated into the whole night.

Comic Con Karaoke!
I love working the side parties during Comic Con San Diego. These are the parties hosted by some of the various companies that have products or booths at the show. The attendees are always so enthusiastic and fun.
This party was no different. It was one of the mid sized rooms and the patio at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego plus a couple hundred guests at any given time. I think a lot of people came in, ate and left to avoid the crowd or to catch a few of the other parties in the area. It took 20 minutes or so before they started singing but after they started it was back to back all the way until the end of the night. If you've never been to or hosted a Karaoke bar or party, its great, it gives you and the guests the chance to sing to all your favorites. We provide the microphones the music track and even a small video screen where the lyrics for each song play in time with the music. How much easier can it get? As long as you have a decent knowledge of the song you want to sing the Karaoke system will help keep you on beat, singing ion key is up to you.

Recent Online Reviews!!!
Wanted to share these couple of recent reviews we received on Yelp and Wedding Wire.
5 Star Review from Yelp
The Prado in Balboa Park
Spencer was recommended to us by our reception coordinator at The Prado. He did a wonderful job of keeping everything running smoothly, not rushing us, and allowing us time to enjoy the night. All of our friends and family kept talking about what a great time they had and how amazing the DJ was! We've been to a bunch of wedding receptions and this one just felt like no other, as far as people actually getting out and having a good time and that credit definitely went to Spencer. The variety of music, the lighting, and his interaction with the crowd kept the party going. He listened to what we wanted and hit it right on. Honestly, he was absolutely wonderful! We highly recommend working with Spencer at Mobile Music Plus.

House of Blues - San Diego
Organising my Wedding Party from Australia was always going to make things a little more stressful as you have no face to face contact. Jonny Dupre from Mobile Plus totally got what I wanted. I said I wanted it to be a stand up party with everyone dancing all night not sitting around passively and he made that happen. The music was amazing, his presence as MC was as though he knew us intimately and he was actually like a family friend not someone I actually met on the night!
I want to thank Jonny with all my heart for doing a stand-out job. I would recommend him to anyone.

Karaoke Dance Party at the Prado
This group was a blast! In the Loggia Room at the Prado overlooking the Round a bout and the fountain. It took a little while for them to get into the groove, but once they got started they loved Karaoke. Several times throughout the night singers chose good dance songs and sang them so well that the dancefloor filled up so I just rolled with it and played more dance music. They were lovin it! Everything from 70's to Currents, they were dancing, singing and just having a great time.

Wedding Ceremony and Reception at Spanish Village in Balboa Park - San Diego
I ran the music and mic's for the ceremony at the far end of the village complex and then Dj'd the dinner and dancing near the gazebo area. They danced a lot and all was good, the only thing that was tough was the 1 hour quick turn around between the shops closing at 5 and the start of the wedding at 6.

Enzoani Fashion Show
Last week a team of Lighting, Audio and Fashion Show Production pro's descended upon the St Regis Resort in Dana Pt. CA for Enzoani's fashion show. I was playing the music for the runway models to walk to. The Show used the entire space on the Grand Lawn including the walkways that served as the runway. Models appeared on the upper level of the Grand Lawn Stairs and progressed down into the audience and around both section of the runway. It was amazing... and the Enzoani line for 2012 is beyond amazing. Such creativity yet functionality in a real world situations. No 6 ft wide hats or 25 ft wedding gown trains, just elegance at its best.

Wedding DJ, Uplights and Gobo ( Monogram) at NTC Promenade
This was a LONG party, they danced for like 3.5 hours. But that's the key word, they Danced the entire time. We only stopped for Cake Cutting and few other formalities. I provided 16 Uplights and their monogram in light in the center of the dancefloor. The room looked great and the night was a lot of fun. There is another Video on my blog by Videographer Joe Park that shows some other great shots away from the dancefloor
Video Dj Wedding at the Prado
About 200 people for this one, lots of them from the Jersey Area (as you can see by the Boss Video being played). The Prado is one of my all time favorite locations. Its classic look and elegance is 5 star quality and the staff from the Sales Team to the Banquet servers are on the ball and really impress me every time I'm there.
Video DJ is the same great DJ performance plus the visually engaging element that you get from a music video for each song as it plays. My Video Library of 18,000 plus videos covers from the Rolling Stones to the Beatles and LMFAO to Katy Perry and everything in between. Words don't do it justice, you have to see if live to really get the full effect of the energy I create as I DJ and mix live with music videos for Video DJ parties.

Tracy & Ben's St Patrick's Day Wedding DJ & Uplights
March 17th I had the pleasure of being the DJ & Emcee for Ben & Tracy Tong at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. It was a little rainy that day so on short notice the Ceremony was moved indoors into half of the ballroom. These two were all smiles though and the rooom looked great thanks to the Florist and Uplights it made the rain outside melt away.
Here is a video clip from Catch Motion Productions who filmed the whole day.
The Ceremony really set the pace for the rest of day. Tracy walked down the aisle to a family friend singing "If I ain't Got You" originally by Alicia Keys. She sang it so well and in such similar style to the original that I noticed people looking toward when they finally figured out that it wasn't the prerecorded original song.
Reverend Deborah Young delivered the Ceremony for them and when they read their own vows Ben, the Groom went first and really did well. Tracy, the Bride was next and she had arranged with me in advance a special cue to start her music track of "The Way I am" by Ingrid Michaelson,, but she had rewritten the words to fit her Lyrics to a Cheesy Love Song reference in her vows. The crowd erupted in applause when she finished.
Once the Ceremony had finished the Maderas staff invited the guests to the foyer and the tented area outside for a few minutes while the room was converted back to Dinner seating for the reception. You should've seen it, they were amazing, 160 chairs and half a room full of tables, fully set for dinner in just over 15 minutes. I provided music during the break but guests were anxious to get back in and get started.
The room looked great all set and ready, my 8 Amber uplights really gave the room a nice warm touch to make the rainy day quickly forgotten. Dinner was wonderful, if you've never had the food at Maderas you have to go have lunch or dinner there. The chef is amazing and the staff is 5 star quality without a doubt. We finished Dinner with a Video Montage on the 7 ft screen and projector that I provided.
On to the PARTY! You may have noticed in the video clip but at some point, 2 guys in Leprechaun suits showed up.... not just green clothes, I mean full suits, with formal button up vests and jackets and knickers. I don't know where they came from but they were dancing and everyone enjoyed them being there.
The group was really into a lot of top 40 dance with some of the party song classics mixed in from time to time. They really seemed to have fun as they danced the night away, they even extended the party to have me stay longer.

A Day at the Beach
A day at the Beach with WSCA in March, we spent all day with the Water Safety Congress of America at the Catamaran Resort on Mission Bay. They were hosting an educational outing for their conference that involved the San Diego Lifeguard, US Coast Guard, San Diego Police and Navy Seals. Since some of their education was best suited to take place while on water, we brought out top of the line audio and microphone equipment so that not only could the group on the beach hear the actors as they acted out their skits out on the boats, those actors could hear everything the Emcee said from the beach as well.

Disco Themed Video DJ Party at Maderas
This was like an explosion of color! This Annual corporate party selects a theme each year and the attendees go all out, dressing in costume and acting in character - it was a lot of fun.
I Video DJ'd all Disco for the first 4 hours (yes, I have that much Disco on DVD)and they were INTO IT. maybe it was the wigs but no matter they were having a great time. The last hour as the planning committee and I planned we started to break out of the disco theme and give them some 80s and top 40 which by that time of night they were ready for and only added to the excitement.
My team brought in an 8 foot screen for the videos, plenty of dance and stage lights, 8 hot pink uplights and a disco ball - because let's face it what's a disco party if there's no disco ball!

Sorry for the lack of Recent updates!
I'm sorry to report that my cool little video camera that allowed me to give you a quick glimpse of those parties is no longer with us. I don't know if i misplaced it or if someone decided they liked it more than I do.
For now I guess we'll have to settle for good old fashioned Text updates and blogposts...how boring. I'll try to link youtube clips to some of the bigger events if I can find them online.
Here are a couple to get you going
San Diego Block Party: Early January I Video DJ'd for 2500 people from the Special Event Industry. I find that more and more, when its time to impress those that are usually behind the scenes and in-the-know like this group was, I get the call quite often for Video DJ because it's just so amazing. My video library is over 18,000 now and it covers to name a few: Frank Sinatra, Temptations, James Brown, Bee Gees, Madonna, Michael Jackson and of course all of today hits. This event was incredible, 4 City blocks with Food, Audio and Video Throughout.
The guys from Innovative Presentations did a great job placing 12 video screens around the 4 block area including the 12 foot screen behind me and a 15 ft screen on a rooftop on 5th avenue. I played for about 90 minutes and had the place jumping until I passed it off for the main stage and Recording Group - Kool & the Gang took the main stage.
This video isn't of me but someone else caught a little of Kool & the Gang on stage
